Before you watch other videos from my other articles, take a glimpse of the history of television. John Logie Baird was referred as the the who invents the television. But it all started with “Nipkow disk”. It is a technology discovered by Paul Nipkow to transmit pictures over the wire because of this he was the first to discover the scanning principle of a television.
In the year 1925, at the Selfridge’s Department Store in London, Baird demonstrated a televised silhouette images in motion. The scanner worked for about 5 pictures per second and then later improved to 12 pictures per second.
Baird’s company broadcast the first transatlantic television signal and that’s between London and New York. He worked in Germany and then in France he worked with Bernard Nathan and they were the first one to established first television company in France.
Many inventors worked together to improved the television and to better have a good reception antennae was invented. Marvin Middlemark invented the so called “rabbit ears”.
Community Antenna Television (CATV) or what we called Cable TV these days was said to have originated in Pennsylvannia in 1940.
On December 17, 1953, colored televisions were born by the Russian inventor Vladimir Zworykin. But this is actually an idea of German invetor in the year 1904.
“Lazy Bones”, old term for remote controls were invented by Zenith Electronics Corporation to make it easier for the people to change the channels and turn on and off the television.
In the year 1964, Plasma TV was invented by Gene Slottow, Donald Bitzer, and Robert Willson.
Television’s features improved as year’s goes by. We do have the so-called HD (high definition) TV where colors are alive. United States have implemented a law that everyone living here in the US should convert their analog tv to digital tv. They can have the converter or they can just suscribe to satellite tv provider like Dish Network or Direct TV to receive digital programming.
